Poll - Should We Amend The United States Constitution?
For to long we have ignored the workings of Congress considering the majority of citizens have no idea members of Congress can retire with a full pension at the age of 62 after only completing 5 years of federal service. They specifically exempted themselves from some of the laws they pass (such as being exempt from any fear of prosecution for sexual harassment) and are only subject to disciplinary action by the house or senate ethics committees for violating our law while ordinary citizens must abide by the law or be subject to indictment and prosecution.
We do not want or need a congress that is above the law. This undermines the principles for which our country was formed. I honestly don't care if they are Democrat, Republican, Independent or whatever. The self-serving must stop.
Proposed Amendment to the United States Constitution:
"Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States ."
If we petition the government to move forward and implement this amendment maybe, just maybe it will level the playing field . They will be subject to indictment and prosecution by our legal system and will have to face jurors who are citizens of this great nation.
