Poll - Are We Responsible For Our Failing Economy Or Party Politics ?

Party politics maybe the reason our country and economy fail in the end considering the republican and democratic parties fail to come to a bipartisan agreement on how to address the current and future economic problems. Their inability to compromise is simply maddening. Whether this is by design or plain ignorance is the true question and we should ask ourselves, who do they honestly represent? Do they represent We The People or the organizations who contribute to their campaigns for election and re-election? Most of the legislation passed into law has been beneficial to large corporations with little to no benefit to the American people also if we consider both democrats and republicans voted in favor of legislation that undeniable hurt the American worker and our economy. Then why do we keep putting the same people in office election after election. In reality we are the problem as we allow them to get away with it and we don't hold them accountable for their actions or their lack of.

We can't have a single party political system since corruption runs rampant and this would eliminate the checks and balances our forefathers incorporated in the system originally. We can't have all democrats in office and the same with republicans as this could be devastating to the American people since they would have the ability to push any agenda through congress with no resistance.

Many people have a mistaken belief, they believe the government can create employment. Well it can't, not any long term or sustainable employment. Any long term or sustainable employment is created in the private sector and not by the government. The government can promote legislation which will help American businesses and corporations create jobs but the government can't create any unless they develop new divisions and expand the governments size.

The business scheme has changed and we no longer depend of manufacturing as an instrument to create employment. The majority of products are manufactured in foreign nations by American owned corporations, imported into the U.S. and sold to the American people.

America is becoming a service oriented nation and this has an adverse affect on our ability to create jobs today and will in the future. This complicates our ability to predict what field would be financially beneficial to be retrained for or further our education.

We have a rough road ahead of us as a nation and we can only hope we can influence those who represent us in Washington enough to do what is in our and our countries best interest.

We need to take a long look in the mirror, for what you will see is part of the problem and not part of the solution. It's time for us to send a message to congress by replacing some of the dead wood. Their failure to compromise on legislation that would help the American people is no longer acceptable and we need to hold them accountable.

Skipped first two questions because of the absence of the answer "all of the above"

Suggest you add that choice to both questions

Analyze That

The lack of accountability is part of the problem and they just don't care is the other. The more I think about it, if we are going to do nothing but expel hot air, complain about everything and do nothing then we get what we deserve.

Pretty decent poll. Is there a way to pick more than one option in a poll?

On the policy side, I hear a lot about "compromise." on a lot of things, I am as ready as the next guy to compromise...hell, I'm married...I have to! :-)

I also believe however, there are certain core values or philosophy that cannot be compromised. I flat out do not believe the government can create jobs, nor do I believe it's the governments job to pick economic winners and losers. I am very disinclined to compromise on issues such as these. From my view, compromise on these issues has led us to where we are today. There is a saying that in any compromise between food and poison, the result is necessarily, death.

Regards,

Mike

Lack of farsighted leadership, greed and unbridled consumerism. That's what got us here.
